Mission Accomplished

I am back.

Either I have had a bad case of writers block ,have just been lazy, or just have not have had anything to say.

Or perhaps all three. Who knows.

So here we go.

Our latest endeavor has been acting as a bed and breakfast for Guide Dogs in training.

As it turns out it is probably one of the most important things I have ever done in my life. They are the coolest animals and the value that they will bring to a clients life is unimaginable. Our job is make sure we do not screw up the training and to make sure they are just a dog after a hard day of training. Our latest guest has moved on to the final stage of training and is presently working with a visually impaired client. All signs indicate that the match will be successful . My Wife and I will probably never meet this client, but having played a small role in improving someone’s life is unique. Mission accomplished.

Recently after a round of golf at my Club I counted the number of divots and ball marks I repaired. I filled 51 divots with seed and soil mixture and repaired close to 60 ball marks. Then the light bulb went on . Why am I fixing other people’s errors? By doing so I am enabling them. By enabling them they are not learning a dam thing. So, from now on I fix my ball mark, fill my divot and rake my bunker. It is like asking your kid to pick up their dirty clothes and put them in the laundry bin. When the bin has clothes in it, the clothes get laundered, if clothes stay on the floor they don’t. Eventually they run out of clean clothes and they have nothing clean to wear. Message received. Some may that I am not protecting the course, I disagree.

I understand the standards that I play by, others do not. Some say but it is the rule to fill divots, rake bunkers, and fix ball marks. I say to them ” do you know why there are rules? Rules are for people who can not follow directions!”

Until next time!
