Welcome back my followers, all 32 of you.
It has been awhile since I have written anything so here goes.
Florida and Edmonton are in The Cup final and the hockey is great. Swings of momentum that challenge the mindset of the athletes are interesting to watch. A lot of people get caught up in the skill of these athletes, but me, I guess I am a little different . I just love the mental side of the game. Just because a team has talent, does not mean you are going to win. Athletes need a strong belief in what they are doing which marries in with trust. That is what puts you over the top.
On a completely different subject, I belong to a private golf . This year they have updated there dress code. Why the BOD did this who knows. I thought the old one was fine and never really heard many complaints about it. Well, in all their wisdom they have decided that flip flops are not permitted. I know this because a friend of was on our putting green testing out putters and a BOD member told one of the staff to inform my friend that they were not ” code” and had to change his shoes. Now these were not mouldy flip flops like in Bull Durham. These were $60-$70 Nike flip flops or causal athletic footwear as they were marketed as. Our Club has lost its way in the last 20 years, trying to become something that we are not. We are becoming wannabees. What is interesting is ladies can wear similar footwear, call it a sandal and it is permissible. Go figure! BTW the BOD member should not have asked staff to do their dirty work. Your decision, you own it ! Shows a total lack of character.
On another note Sunflower seed guy has shown up for the 2025 golf season. This guy, ( sexist I know ) spits the Sunflower seed shells all over the golf course. Tee’s, fairways, and putting surfaces. It is a dirty disgusting habit especially when have to brush them out of the way, or when your ball lands on them. It rates right up their with players who leave cigarette and cigar butts on the course. Again disgusting .
The United States Open golf Championship starts this week at Oakmont . The rough is high, greens are very quick so the carnage should be high. The talking heads on Golf Channel is predicting a winning score of minus three. A lot will depend on weather. If the course dries out the winning score might be even par, a little rain to soften the surfaces minus three to five under might win. These are the best players no telling what they can do, but it will be fun to watch.
Until next time!
