It has been sometime since I have written anything.
So here it goes.
The Stanley Cup , The US Open Golf Championship , The Open Championship. and the Olympics have all been contended. Great champions and athletes crowned.
As for me, well I continue my journey in the world of amateur Club golf.
Sometimes I wonder if it is all worth it. Putting in the time, effort, preparation for play and practice as I approach my 69th birthday.
Lately, the scores have been pretty good but that is not why I play anymore. I play because I like to control the ball and get thrilled when it comes off the face of the club purely, which happens two maybe three times in a round. I also play because I like spending time with friends, many of who have artificial body parts. The way they compete is something to behold, even when the game does not treat them as they should be treated. I have been very fortunate not to have any artificial parts, but at 69 it can very challenging to move on certain days, but these friends keep me going and remind me of my good fortune.
Today, I took a lesson from my instructor and learned a whole lot more about the golf swing. We used some cool technology to gain insight into my swing and how my fat little body moves. The biggest take away was the face of golf swing instruction is changing in leaps and bounds. It is truly remarkable the abundance of information that today’s players have and that the key is putting it the hands of instructors that know how to use correctly. I came away enthused and ready to go work to get better. He told me ” it is your swing to own, the information we have access to will help you own it”.
The golf season is approaching the 3/4 pole and hockey season is only three weeks away, so there will be more to write about. I may even do the odd Bourbon as well, another passion of mine as well.
Until next time.
