Last week was a tough week for my family as we said goodbye to good friends.
We came to the decision that after 16.5 years to say good bye to our family dog. Our dog had a determination that I wish some athletes had. Her hind legs were losing mass and mobility was becoming an issue. Every night she would make it up the stairs on her own. I would get dirty looks from her if I dared to carry her. A friend of mind who was also has also passed and was a dog lover once told me ” a good dog owner knows when it’s time, you owe it to them to live and pass with dignity“. Strange how you remember phrases from long ago. I still find myself looking for her, then realise she is physically not there, but her spirit has not left us. She was a great friend and companion.
A couple of days later my Wife and I lost a friend after a very short illness. She was kind, thoughtful, and just a nice person. Sometimes you wonder why this happens and you really do not have an answer, especially when there are so many assh*les walking the face of the earth. A friend of mind told me once that ” god must really love assh*les, because he made so many of them. ” I have no scientific facts to back that up, but maybe as I get older I am becoming more observant and less tolerant.
On a lighter note hockey is still going on and the games are good, mind you they are becoming increasingly viscous. Would like to see the NHL dial it back a little so that the players will have a life after hockey. BTW Jacob Trouba of the Rangers is a 2024 version of Ulf Sammuelson who ended the careers of a few NHL players.
As for the Toronto Blue Jays they are in a state of mediocrity and generally a mess, and it is only the end of May. Time for a complete house cleaning of upper management ( not going to happen in season) and a purging of the “elite” players on the team. Bo and Vlady have to go. Sick of Bo and his act. He looks cool with the hair, knee high pants, and the head band. All sizzle no steak. As for Vlady he swings at anything six inches outside of the plate. IMO he is an easy out for all the cash he makes.
To close out, the PGA Tour lost a member this weekend, Grayson Murray. It has been well documented that he had his demons and mental health issues. From all that I have read many thought he had turned a corner, and won earlier on in the season. However he took his life last weekend. He was 31 years old. So my ask of you if have been thinking about calling someone or meeting a friend for a coffee, do it!
You will never know what the impact of the call or that coffee will have on some one.
Until next time!
